National Guest Lecture : IFLS Data Introduction and Management

The University of Trunojoyo Madura’s Development Economics Studies Program hosted a national guest lecture on “Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) Data Identification and Management” on November 15-16, 2023. The guest course aims to provide knowledge and skills to students of semester 3 and 5 on how to access, process and analyze IFLS data, which is one of the largest and most complete longitudinal data sources in Indonesia.

The guest class is conducted in a hybrid manner, that is, by combining face-to-face and online methods. Participants who are present face to face are in the hybrid learning classroom (RKBH) 1.1 and 1.2, while participants who are online attend guest lectures through the Zoom Meeting app. This guest class is divided into two sessions, namely:

  1. The first session on November 15, 2023, featuring Fajar Rakhmadi, senior researcher from the Institute for Innovation and Social Economic Research (RISED). At this session, participants get an introduction to the background, purpose, methodology, coverage, and contents of IFLS data, as well as how to access Ifls data through the official RISED website.
  2. The second session will be held on November 16, 2023, with Yessy Yuliana, a young researcheur from RIZED. During this session participants receive training on how to process and analyze IflS data using Stata statistical software, and how to create interesting and informative reports and visualizations of Iflss data.

The guest lectures received positive feedback from both online and face-to-face attendees. The participants felt that they were benefiting greatly from this guest lecture, especially in improving their competence in the field of development economics. Participants also hoped that there would be similar guest conferences organized by the University of Trunojoyo Madura Development Economics Studies Program in the future.
