On Thursday, November 23, 2023, the Department of Economics of Trunojoyo Madura University (UTM) held a national guest lecture on the theme \u201cThe Use of Population Data for Development Planning\u201d. The activity aims to provide knowledge and understanding to students, faculty, and the public about the importance of population data as one of the sources of information that can be used to plan, implement, and evaluate development in various fields and sectors.<\/p>\n

This national guest college presents a competent and experienced student in his field, namely Achmad Sjafii, S.E., M.E. who is a lecturer in development economics at Airlangga University (Unair). He is an alumni of the UTM Economics Department of 1998, who then continued his master’s studies in development economy at Unair. He also has experience as a researcher, consultant, and source in various national and international institutions and organizations.<\/p>\n

The moderator who guided the course of this national guest lecture was Andri Wijanarko, S.E., M.E. who is a senior lecturer at UTM Economics. He is also active in research, dedication, and development of economics, especially in the fields of regional economy, environmental economy, and the economy of natural resources.<\/p>\n

This national guest lecture was followed by about 150 participants, consisting of students, lecturers both online and on-line. The event lasted two hours, in a presentation, discussion, and question-and-answer format. In his presentation, Achmad Sjafii explains the definition, characteristics, sources, and types of population data, as well as methods and techniques for collecting, processing, and analysing population data. He also emphasized the benefits of population data in development planning, such as determining priorities, allocations, and distribution of resources, to measure the performance, impact, and effectiveness of development programmes and policies, as well as to anticipate and respond to future development changes and challenges. He also provided examples of the application of population information in development plans in the areas of education, health, employment, poverty, and the environment.<\/p>\n

During the discussion and questioning sessions, participants were very enthusiastic and active in asking questions, comments, and suggestions related to the submitted material. Some of the questions raised include the validity, reliability, and accuracy of population data, the role and responsibilities of governments and communities in managing population data; the challenges and obstacles in using population data for development planning; and the sources and references that can be used to learn more about population data. Achmad Sjafii answers these questions in a clear, detailed, and informative manner, as well as providing real examples and relevant up-to-date data. He also appreciated and responded to the suggestions given by the participants positively and openly.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the moderator concluded the event by conveying conclusions and important messages from the submitted material, as well as inviting the participants to continue learning and developing the science of economics, especially the economy of development, which is beneficial to the society and the nation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
